About dawn came knocking

Dawn Came Knocking was inspired entirely by a dream I experienced. I am unsure what inspired the dream. Perhaps it was nothing, maybe something pivotal, but it certainly was nothing obvious.

I have had many, many dreams, some of which have come true. One Canadian childhood dream was visiting a corner store where you had to step down off the sidewalk into a lower level of an older 1950's style corner store. The store's shelves were a bright white, as were the walls and everything else in the store. The main thing aligning all the shelves were older but complete newspapers. 

At the end of the store was a long white countertop. After some 45 years, I had trouble taking in my next breath as I stood in this same store in Sydney, Australia with the exact same detailed surroundings.

The difference between these previous dreams and Dawn Came Knocking was this short story was complete. None of my other dreams was as near as complete. This was the first dream with an origin and completion that made some semblance of sense.

This story needs to be explained before reading how to read through each character. During the dream, I experienced each character. With each introduction of a character or interaction, I was suddenly transferred into the mind and vision of the character.

While reading the story, imagine yourself transferring from character to character and seeing whatever their eye gaze would capture at that moment. The feelings of each character became more profound and more meaningful.

Upon waking, I was convinced for at least an hour that it was real. I was confident that all the events were actual, and the fear and shock were overwhelming. 

Finally, the fog cleared, and I discovered it was merely a dream which made me realize it must be shared.
